From Hanselmann Pottery's Studio
Hanselmann Pottery has been making stoneware pottery in Corrales, New Mexico since 1970. Hanselmann pots are handcrafted using a centuries old process which ensures that each pot is a unique creation. Handmade on a potter’s wheel or pressed from a slab of clay, the piece is first gently fired to 1800 degrees, then glazed and individually decorated by hand. The final firing takes about ten hours and reaches 2400 degrees. Since the first firing is low and the second is high, the character of the clay body is allowed to influence the glaze in a pattern of spotting and subtle marking that is unique to every pot.
